Our window film fitting tools are essential for professionals and DIY enthusiasts who work with window film installations. These tools can help ensure a smooth and successful installation process.
Read MoreWindow film fitting tools are used for the installation and application of window films onto glass surfaces. These tools help ensure a smooth and professional-looking installation, whilst minimising the risk of damage to the film or the glass. We have assembled a range of tools to facilitate the window film and graphics application process, whether you're installing safety, frosted, privacy or tinted window film, stickers and decals.
Typically and for most jobs, you will require the following:
Window Film Squeegee: A squeegee is an essential tool used to remove air bubbles and excess water from between the film and the glass surface. It helps in achieving a smooth and wrinkle-free installation. Our felt edged squeegees are designed to prevent scratching the film during application.
Utility Knife or Window Film Cutting Tool: These tools are used to cut the window film to the desired size and shape. They allow for precise and clean cuts, ensuring a proper fit on the glass.
Window Cleaning Solution and Spray Bottle: Before applying the film, the glass surface needs to be thoroughly cleaned and free of any dirt, dust, or debris. A cleaning solution and spray bottle are used to wet the glass and facilitate the installation process.
Razor Blades and Scrapers: These tools are used to remove any stubborn dirt, adhesive residue, or imperfections from the glass surface before installing the film. They help create a clean and smooth surface for better adhesion.
Measuring Tape: A measuring tape is used to accurately measure the dimensions of the windows and cut the film to the appropriate size. It ensures a precise fit and reduces the chances of wastage.
Lint-Free Cloths or Paper Towels: These are used to wipe the glass surface and remove any moisture or debris during the installation process. Lint-free materials prevent fibers from getting trapped under the film.
Slip Solution or Application Fluid in a Spray Bottle: Slip solution or application fluid is a mixture of water and a small amount of soap or detergent, mixed together in a spray bottle. It is sprayed onto the glass surface before applying the film, allowing for easy repositioning and minimizing the risk of premature adhesion.
Our mini tool kit is ideal for small installation jobs, and the only other item you will need is a spray bottle like the ones used to spray plants. Alternatively, recycle a spray bottle which contained cleaning liquid for example, but make sure you rinse it well before filling it with the soapy water solution required to apply your window film or decals.
For large panes we would recommend a wide tool like our wide blue felt edge squeegee. Alternatively, you could just use a regular household squeegee. However, make sure it is in good condition so that it doesn't damage the film in the process.
These types of film are much thicker than frosted or tinted film and as such you will need to use a stronger squeegee with a thick rubber edge. The technique is the same but more pressure is required to ensure most of the water is squeezed out from under the film.
