Conservatory Window Film: Stylish, efficient, affordable

  • Cheaper than blinds
  • Easy to keep clean
  • Allows you to see out
  • By the metre or cut to size

To reclaim your conservatory and make it more comfortable on hot sunny days, the best option is to apply conservatory reflective film to the glass which will cut down the level of natural light and reject excess heat before it gets trapped within the room.

The best place to start is with conservatory roof film as the roof amounts to a large glazed area directly facing the sun. If your room is facing South, we would recommend a dark tint or dark conservatory heat reflective film, as long as the double glazed unit is made of toughened glass. If not or if in doubt, select a medium grade film which is suitable for all types of glass.

Once you have addressed the roof, it is then also worth considering the windows and doors around the room. Again, select the darker films for windows exposed directly to the sun for long stretches of time. As a general rule, East facing windows will get the early sun, South facing windows will get sun most of the day, and West facing windows will get the sun in
the evening.

Glass Compatibility

Conservatory roofs are typically made of double glazed units which come with toughened glass. Toughened glass is compatible with all our films including the darker ones. However, on older constructions, it is essential that you check the makup of the glass. If in doubt, please use a medium grade film.

Polycarbonate Roofs

Please select from our range of polycarbonate roof films which are specially formulated for this type of material. Please note that once applied the films cannot be removed.

Applying Your Film

Conservatory film is a self adhesive material applied using a soapy water solution and a squeegee, making bubbles a thing of the past. Two people are best suited to this type of work and you will need some access equipment to reach the underside of the roof. Do not apply the film on hot days or it will dry too quickly.

Excellent Product, Service and Price Product arrived quickly even with the covid restrictions Our conservatory is now in use again no more 40-50 degrees in the height of summer. We have used it before and it really does make all the difference we have a south facing sun room and conservatory, we tried the sun room first and even with the sun in the garden in the middle of the afternoon the sun room is lovely and warm, previously you could not sit in there because of the heat. Thank you for giving us back the extra space we wanted kind regards Andrew & Shirley Norwich

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Will Purlfrost window films damage my conservatory windows?

Our window films are designed to be safe for use on most types of glass, including double glazing. However, we always recommend consulting with our experts before installation to ensure compatibility with your specific conservatory windows.

  • Is there a window film for a polycarbonate conservatory roof?

We supply three types of purpose made films for polycarbonate roofs which come either in 75cm or 150cm wide rolls. We have two internal films, a reflective and a frosted option, and an external film for when it is not practical to apply film internally.

  • Can I apply the conservatory window film myself?

The answer is yes, especially on the side windows and doors. However, when it comes to the roof itself, or for large panes, two people are best suited for the job. Please do not apply window film on a conservatory roof on a hot sunny day as the film will dry too quickly making it nigh on impossible to apply. Wait for a dull, cool day or do it early in the morning.

  • How long do Purlfrost conservatory window films last?

Our high-quality window films are designed to be long-lasting, with a typical lifespan of 10 to 15 years or more. The exact lifespan will depend on the specific film, as well as factors such as sun exposure and maintenance. All our films come with a warranty for your peace of mind.

  • Are Purlfrost window films easy to clean?

Yes, our window films are easy to maintain and clean. Simply use a soft cloth or sponge with a mild, non-abrasive cleaning solution to gently wipe the surface. Avoid using harsh chemicals, as they may damage the film.
